Welcome to the home page of the Valleys Faith Forum, a new interfaith dialogue initiative based in the heart of the valleys of South Wales.
The forum is a very new initiative and is currently in the process of establishing itself. We plan to hold our first inaugural meeting in the near future, to discuss administrative matters.
Although detailed information will appear here soon, the forum aims to offer the faith communities of the region a space in which they can meet and share ideas, as well as fellowship with each other.
Once it is properly up and running, this website aims to offer information on news and events, topics of interest, personal reflections and informed discussions, as well as a range of resources.
Please feel free to send us your comments, or even to join in.
Hello!
I am a Ph.D. candidate doing my Ph.D. on issues related to Qur’an translation.
I am doing a survey study to investigate the preferences and problems of non-Arabic speaking Muslims and non-Muslims in reading Qur’an translations and how they need the translations to be like to get the message through. I need non-Arabic speaking Muslim as well as non-Muslim respondents for my questionnaire.
I wonder whether anyone would like to participate in my questionnaire or know potential respondents. If so, please contact me at dsabry2007@gmail.com
The questionnaire does not test information based on knowledge of the Qur’an. Respondents NEED NOT be well-versed in the Qur’an or its translations to be eligible for answering the questionnaire. It simply investigates their personal preferences as to the method of translation required.
However, they should be really serious and interested because it is not a typical questionnaire. It is a 10 page questionnaire that needs some time and thinking but you learn something out of it. Respondents can take one month for completion if needed though of course the questionnaire takes but few hours.
Respondents should have a good command of English to be able to understand and answer the questions and should be depending on English Qur’an translations. They should be above 16 and can be students, scholars or laypersons.
Looking forward to participators — non-Arab Muslims and non-Muslims.

Salams
